The SolidWorks User Group meeting for Central Wisconsin area was held on Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We had another successful meeting with eight (8) people attending the meeting, including two new members. The meeting was held at Kumon Math and Reading Center, 1345 8th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494. We followed a set agenda for the meeting.
Agenda: 5:00-5:05 Welcome
5:05-5:15 Community Project - Update , Mark Swanson, CTO, Renaissance Learning Inc.
5:15-6:30 Home Build CNC – Stephen Turner, Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, Renaissance Learning
6:30:7:00 Refreshments/Informal gathering
The meeting started on time. Mark Swanson gave a brief update on the community project and MIT's involvement. The main topic for the evening was home built CNC machine by Stephen Turner. Stephen presented many slides that showed development of the machine. He came up with some unique features and building strategies to keep the cost low and quality high. The mechanical construction is complete. Stephen is working on electrical connections and CNC controls. Please let me know if you want further information or would like to see full presentation.
We did not schedule the next meeting. Please let me know if you are interested in any particular topic or would like to present. I will inform you as soon as the meeting is planned. The meeting will be posted on SWUGN Calendar.
